Inclusivity in Beauty

Hi, I'm Rowena - the Ro in 'Glo With Ro'.

Makeup has been a love of mine since my early teens and I have always enjoyed learning new techniques and trying new products and styles of makeup.  It was during the Covid lockdown that I began to really think of starting up on my own as a freelance makeup artist.  My previous career was as a high level Personal Assistant in various London based organisations but I had to give this up due to ill health.  I spent some years battling with my body and raising my autistic son but always kept up my interest in makeup.  Even when I was tired or dealing with chronic pain, I still wanted to look my best and of course, a full face of makeup always makes a girl feel good about herself, so I would experiment and try new things at home and try to look glam on the few occasions I would go out.

I continue to live with a chronic health condition but thanks to some wonderful doctors, I am now in a much better place physically and I want to help others feel as good as I do when I've got my makeup on and have that extra boost to my confidence that looking good gives me.

I'm aware that I am starting out in this business at an age when most makeup professionals have been working for decades and have established businesses but I believe that I can bring something to my local area (Swale in Kent) and the surrounding area, offering an affordable and professional service in the comfort of clients' homes.

I am certified in Makeup Artistry and Bridal Makeup from the New Skills Academy and have trained with the PLouise Makeup Academy in Manchester, UK. I am continuing my professional development with more PLouise courses.

I am also now fully accredited and a Member of The Guild of Beauty Therapists.

I am certified in Hygiene Standards for Makeup Professionals as well as Covid 19 Infection Prevention and Control, use ISOClean products to maintain a clean and hygienic kit and am fully insured with Salon Gold.

I'm fully vaccinated against Covid and regularly monitor myself for any infection.  It is of the utmost importance to me that my clients feel safe and protected when having their makeup done.

I want to become known as a makeup artist who knows how to deal with mature skin, eye looks for those who wear glasses, especially those who find makeup application difficult because they can't see clearly without their glasses,  and making people with disabilities of all kinds feel glamorous - because everyone deserves to look good and feel good!
